Cycle Against the Beast – 2019
Day 4 – 8th October, 2019
Last night, I had a chat with my Couchsurfing host, John, as to whether I could stay an additional night, and he was more than happy to agree. I definitely needed today’s rest day. After the last few days of a lot of uphill, my reserves were diminishing. Added to that, my left knee wasn’t playing nice either.
However, today was still a productive day. My host offered to take my bike into town (Bathurst), so I could meet him later, to have it checked over at a bike shop. The gear cable cap was screwed back into place. John also had been in touch with the local radio station, 2BS, and they wanted to interview me (I still need to chase up a copy of the audio). So, I had an appointment just after 15:00, which went well! I also picked up a copy of the Western Advocate, which had yesterday’s interview printed in it. It can also be found on The Western Advocate’s website.

Later in the afternoon, John had to pick up another Couchsurfer, who was going to be spending some time in Bathurst for the Bathurst 1000. In the evening, we had a few drinks and chatted.
