People create lists all the time. We can’t help it. I guess it gives us a sense of order, or a measure of achievement. One of these lists is usually a bucket list, which could be ‘1000 things to be done before I die’. Well, this is my bucket list, that I’m putting together, for my extended round the world trip. It is a work in progress, as new things will be added over time.
- The coin toss at the start of a Boxing Day Test Match, at the MCG, in Melbourne.
- The coin toss at the start of an AFL Grand Final.
- Skydiving – already done! But want to do it again.
- Walk (or cycle) the entire Camino de Santiago/The Way of St. James
- SCUBA diving. As I’m mildly epileptic, it’s unlikely to ever be crossed off.
- Travel remains of Route 66. Looks like my route will cover parts of that!
- Watch a rocket launch into space.
- Fly in to Lukla, Nepal.
- Visit the North Pole (unlikely, but never impossible).
- Take a boat along the ElblÄ…g Canal. I will also be cycling alongside parts of it.
- Hire a narrow boat and travel along some of England’s canals.
- Ride in a hot air balloon.
- Take a boat down (or up) the Yangtze.
- Enter the Papa (Ernest Hemingway) lookalike competition in Key West, Florida.
- Drive a tank.
- Flight 93 memorial near Shankesville, Pennsylvania.
- Climb Mt. Rinjani.
- Paragliding.
- Visit the Salina Turda Salt Mine, Romania.
- Tromsø, Norway – for midnight sun in summer, and Aurora Borealis in winter.
- Hell, Norway.
- Travel by boat down the Urubamba (including the Pongo de Manseriche) & Ucayali Rivers, and into the Amazon River.
- See Victoria Falls.
- Sahara Desert and Atlas Mountains.
- Follow the Hemingway trail.
- Travel along the Trans-Siberian Railway.
- Climb Mt. Fuji.
- Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
- Visit the South Pole – unlikely, as extremely expensive.
- Go into space, and hopefully leave Earth orbit. This is likely more improbable than visiting the South Pole.
- Cedar Point, Ohio – bring on the roller coasters!
- Cradle Mountain, Tasmania.
- Mt. Field National Park, Tasmania.
- Glasshouse Mountains, Queensland.
- Uluru (Ayers Rock).
- Travel by train, across the Central Andes, from Lima to Huancayo.
- Glenfinnan Viaduct, Scotland (Harry Potter fans will recognise that one).
- Ride The Transfăgărășan, Romania.
- Cross an ocean by yacht. Ideally across the South Atlantic, from Cape Town, South Africa, to Rio de  Janeiro, Brazil.
- Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge.
- Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia.
- Hike up Table Mountain, South Africa (if possible).
- Attend an Ashes test match at Lord’s.
Great list! I’ll have to post a complete one sometime.
A list that will continue to grow. 🙂
What about visiting some of Australia’s beauties. I suggest Cradle Mountain Tasmania and the Mt Field National Park to visit some of worlds oldest trees.
Hey Jess. Yeah, I’ve yet to add Aussie locations. I’m still thinking more outside of the country, at the moment, though, including those locations. Want to go to the Glasshouse Mountains, too.
Great bucket list you have here 🙂 We noticed Camino de Santiago is on your list! That was on ours and we have only just completed it a week ago! A journey certainly worth taking!! Good luck with your travels.
Thanks! The Camino is going to be a wonderful challenge. Never have I ever done anything like that before. But, I’m determined! I’ve just taken a quick look at your three 3-part series on the Camino. Some very breathtaking photos you have there! I so can’t wait to start doing it myself!
You have some very creative ideas on your list! Especially watching a rocket launch off into space – now THAT would be awesome. I’m feeling a little bit inspired. 🙂

Thanks for the comment, Raza! It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do! It’s a shame I never got to see a shuttle launch. That would have been something. Think big, Raza. 🙂
It is possible to hike up Table Mountain in Cape Town – there’s actually several routes to choose from. I hiked up the near vertical front face which was gruelling but worth it. All the best trying to achieve these.
Thanks for the information!
Which of these have you finished? I wanna hear the stories! 🙂
Thanks for the comment, Steph! I’ve only done the skydiving, so far. Looking forward to getting started on the rest! My trip starts in 2020. 🙂
I’m jealous! I’ve been meaning to do skydiving, but I always end up doing other stuff like bungee and all that. Visa problems for Filipinos, always. Goodluck..Stephen! [Only now did I realize that we’re both “Steph”] 😀
Bungee jumping is something I’m considering. I’ve pretty much decided that I’m going to do it, one day. Probably once I get to NZ – where it all started. 🙂 Though, doing it at Victoria Falls is rather tempting!
I’ve heard that Filipinos have all sorts of visa problems – can’t go many places without a visa, and then they have all sorts of hoops to jump through to get one.
Going to Macau for a more extreme bungee jump 🙂 Will probably do it in NZ, too. But yes, like what you said about the visa — all true. And I probably would have been to every part of South America before I get a visa 😛 a bit exaggerating
Your list is fantastic. You inspired me to create mine. I have always wanted to visit all the 10 natural wonders of the world. Did two: The Grand Canyon (in the US) and Ha Long Bay (in Vietnam) 🙂
Thanks! It’s my no means complete. I guess I’ll probably add more things to it, in time. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon, and Hal Long Bay is on my list. 🙂
Cool. Don’t forget to kayak through the little pretty islands on the bay.
Been a long time since I’ve been in a kayak. That’ll be interesting!
