Another look at the weather forecast this morning. Suffice to say, it was grim. Not just for today, but for the rest of the week. There was absolutely no way that I was going to make it to Temora by the end of the week – too dangerous. As safety comes first, I decided that I’d catch a train to Cootamundra. This would mean that I’d also have to box up my bike. NSW TrainLink only allow boxed bicycles on board – quite a silly policy.

I first stopped at Moss Vale to enquire about reservations and bike boxes. Plenty of seats available, but no boxes. To make a reservation, I had to call their reservations telephone number. So I gave them a call. Plenty of space and several boxes at Goulburn. So, I took the next train there.

Upon arriving at Goulburn, I bought my ticket and collected a box. I started dismantling my bike – but the box was too small. After a few telephone calls by the station master, an exemption was granted – I could get on the train with my assembled bike. I just had to put it back together again. Now I just had a few hours to wait for my train to Cootamundra.
