Today was a fairly straightforward day, basically just to get from Lithgow to Bathurst. I left just after 08:00, from the motel I was staying at, and took the main road to just past the Macca’s at Lithgow. I then took the back road for a couple of kilometres, just because the gradient was much better. Like last October, I stopped by the side of the road with a clear view of the railway viaducts.

Railway viaducts – old and new.

When I start cycling at the beginning of the day, I like to ensure that I have plenty of water. Today, I was drinking a little more than I usually do, because it was a bit of a warm day. As I rounded the large curve at Mount Lambie, I decided that I’d need to refill. I stopped by a farmhouse and asked the owner whether I could refill my water bottles. He was more than happy oblige! With bottles refilled, I stopped a little further up the road at the rest area. Certainly much greener than the last time I was here!

For the rest of the day, I just pedalled (with the exception of grabbing some lunch at the Caltex petrol station at Yetholme). After a non-eventful day, I arrived in Bathurst at around 16:00. I checked in, took a shower and then went for dinner and a pint at Panthers Bathurst. Tomorrow, it’s on to Orange.
