Pedal Cure 4 FightMND – 2020
5th March, 2020
I woke up and it was, as expected, bucketing down with rain. I made the right call by not thinking of cycling today. Today has now effectively become a rest day, as I’m being driven on to Forbes. I was picked up at around 08:00, where I put my bike in the trailer and fastened it down. Happy that it was secure, I hopped in the car and we set off. Along the way, my host made a couple of stops along the way. The first stop was a monument at Eugowra Rocks, about a big gold robbery by bushrangers back on 15th June, 1862.

Five minutes further down the road, at the town of Eugowra, it was just a quick stop to take a photograph of a mural on the side of a building (which seems to be a newsagent).

We soon arrived at Forbes, where I was dropped off at the Forbes Town Hall. I retreived my bike, which, apart from slightly damaged handlebar tape, was safe and sound. I bid farewell and hopped on my bike to the motel I was staying at for the eveninng. An early check-in, but the owners didn’t mind. I then went out and had a nice big steak at one of the pubs – and pretty much did nothing else for the day. Tomorrow, it’s the long haul to Ungarie. I’ll need an early start, as it’s over 120 km (which would break my longest distance cycled in a day by 20 km) and a lot of very bad road.
