Back on the bike in four weeks time!
Yes, folks! I’m back on the bike in just over four weeks time. Where am I going? Off to Melbourne again! On the 8th of March, I’m joining the Pedal Cure 4 FightMND charity ride. This is a fully supported ride, from the 8th to the 14th of March, pedalling 735 km from Ungarie (way out in western New South Wales) to Windy Hill (the old home ground of the Essendon Football Club – the Bombers), raising funds for my favourite charity, FightMND.
Following my last attempt at cycling from Sydney to Melbourne, I hadn’t expected to be back on the bike again so soon. But when this ride came up, I couldn’t resist taking part in it. But, for me, it’s going to be more than just those 735 km.
My personal starting point will be the Sydney Cricket Ground, on the 28th of February, where I’ll be riding 514 km, unsupported, to the starting point at Ungarie. Once I finish at Windy Hill, I’ll ride a remaining 14 km to the Melbourne Cricket Ground – probably the next day, on the 15th of March. This will be a total of 1265 km.
If you would like to sponsor me, you can do so by following this link. Every little bit helps. You can also click the Donate button on the right hand side of the front page of my blog. I have set a target of (AUD) $1000.
If you’d like to take part in the ride, I think there are still places available! Just go to sign up page! You can choose to join us for 1 day, 2-3 days, or the entire 7 days! There will be a few long days (of 100+ km). But you don’t need to be a speed demon. There’s a fast group (28+ km/h), an intermediate group (23-28 km/h), and a ‘relaxed’ group (as fast or slow as you like – I’ll be in this one!).
